With the polls due to open today, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP has called upon voters to back a Liberal Democrat local champion who sticks up for their community.
Mr Rennie has already sent his postal vote, and will be spending the day supporting candidates at polling stations in Fife.
Commenting on the Liberal Democrat campaign, Mr Rennie said:
"The Liberal Democrat local election campaign has been focused on the issues that come up on the doorstep.
"As I've been out campaigning, meeting thousands of voters, I have found that people want a councillor who will sort out the potholes on their street, support their local school and work to reduce crime in their neighbourhood.
"That's what Liberal Democrats do best.
"Liberal Democrat councils across Scotland already have a record of action which we can be proud of, but we are telling voters that we can and will do more.
"I have spoken to thousands of people throughout my campaign visits in Scotland, and I have found increasing concern about the SNP and their independence goal. Their campaign has shown that at the end of the day, the independence agenda is king for the SNP.
"Liberal Democrats take pride in providing a good service to people on a variety of local issues. Our record of action in local government is testament to that.
"There is no time for cheerleaders for independence when it comes to local government; we need Liberal Democrat local champions who will get the job done."
